Gran Turismo 4 Mobile

Gran Turismo 4 Mobile was announced at a Sony press conference on May 11, 2004, at the presentation of the PSP. It is planned to be an accurate port of the PS2 game, Gran Turismo 4, for the PSP system. To much disappointment, it has (as of October 2007) still not been released, and a new release date of late 2007 to 2008 is now the current date on sites like EBGames and Wal-Mart.

Gran Turismo 4 Mobile in the first place was intended to be one of the flagship games of the PSP. When it was proclaimed, many could not believe that such a vast game could fit onto Sony's proprietary UMD format, and also that such a game would be able to run on the hardware of the PSP. Now, due to its accumulated delays, many believe that the game will never be released.

Despite this, Gran Turismo series producer Kazunori Yamauchi has been constantly consoling the press of the game's existence. The last of such events occurred on September 25, 2006, when Kazunori cited the cause for such a huge postponement of Gran Turismo 4 Mobile included the development of Gran Turismo games for the PlayStation 3, primarily Gran Turismo HD. Kazunori affirmed that the fundamentals of the game had been accomplished as of August 2004, with only the adjustment of "makeup" remaining.

However, for the first time, a date is making its way on to the internet. UK stores, including Amazon.co.uk, have a date of March 30, 2008 listed. There is currently no confirmation of this date, as Sony has removed any records of the game from the majority of their array of PSP-orientated sites, but for many this may come as light at the end of the tunnel. Also, in a recent interview with Best Car, Polyphony stated that it "will release before PS3's GT5 Prologue", which is anywhere between March and Christmas 2008. Alas, GT5 Prologue has now been announced as a late 2007 release and GT 4 Mobile will not be released before then.
